Passion Week

Welcome to the prayer call!  Leader reads the plain text, group reads the bold, and all reads the bold italicized text.
Holy Week- Wednesday
My savior,
do you invite me to share
in the glory of the resurrection?
Please stay with me
as I struggle to see
how accepting the crosses of my life
will free me from the power
of the one who wants only
to destroy my love and trust in you.
Help me to be humble and accepting
like your son, Jesus.
I want to turn to you
with the same trust he had in your love.
Save me, Lord. Only you can save me.

http://onlineministries.creighton.edu/CollaborativeMinistry/Lent//Daily-prayers-06.html

Lord Jesus,
you told your friends
not to worry about the future.

You showed them
how to have the attitude of simple trust

that young children have,
so that they could place themselves
into the caring hands of your Father.

And so I ask
for the power of your Spirit
that I may remain positive
throughout all that is ordinary in my daily life.
I know that your touch
can change people and situations,
and so I ask you
to join me in offering to our Father
not only the good things of this day
but also the suffering and sacrifices
that I want to offer

cheerfully and lovingly,
and in a quiet and hidden way.
And so, may any difficulties
and frustration and pain of this day

be transformed in your presence
for the benefit of other people. Amen.

Meditation
Allow the following scripture to focus your meditation as you wish
http://www.storiesnow.com/59j

Jesus Arrested
47 While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. 48 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.” 49 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed him.
50 Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend.”[d]
Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. 51 With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
52 “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. 53 Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”
55 In that hour Jesus said to the crowd, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me. 56 But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.

Oil by Megan Fleming

The following are "word spit" prayers created during a worship meeting by members of a missionary team and arranged by this blog's prayer coordinator.  Used by permission.

Thank You for loving me.
Your breath is my breath,
You exhale and I inhale,
Your mysterious ways baffle me,
confuse me, delight me,
thrill me.

Jehovah
You are holy, pure, lovely, bright
You delight
in me
and I delight in You.
Your love blankets me
Your love is a beautiful fragrance
around me
You anoint me with Your love
You rescue me from all trouble and fear;
the essence of who You are flows in me
Your love emboldens me
to believe
to hope
the sweetness of your love surrounds
Ancient of Days
Lord of history
I am reborn in your eternal love
 Breath of life, Eternal One
How mysterious, how beautiful
how unsearchable is Your love
for me.

Adonai
Holy is your name
unchanging from age to age
I delight in Your ways
Your blanket of love envelopes me
Your fragrance surrounds Your people
Anoint us to do Your will, oh Lord
Rescue us from encroaching evil
And may Your essence flow from us into this world
Your gold is not of metal, but of Spirit
I believe in the power of Your Spirit to transform
To bring hope where there is darkness and despair
Your sweet love abounding throughout creation
From times before ancient to time beyond future
Your creation reborn by Your hand
By Your breath
Your ways are mysterious beyond our understanding

Prayer Call November 2012

Artist's Prayer

Creator of the Universe,
How infinite and astonishing
Are your worlds.

Thank you,
For your Sacred Art
And sustaining Presence.
Divine Imagination,
Forgive my blindness,
Open all my Eyes.
Reveal the Light of Truth.
Let original Beauty
Guide my every stroke.
Universal Creativity,
Flow through me,
From my heart
Through my mind to my hand,
Infuse my work with spirit
To feed hungry souls.

O Great Creator,

We are gathered together in your name

That we may be of greater service to you

And to our fellows.

We offer ourselves to you as instruments.

We open ourselves to your creativity in our lives.

We surrender to you our old ideas

We welcome your new and more expansive ideas.

We trust that you will lead us.

We trust that it is safe to follow you.

We know that you created us and that creativity

Is your nature and our own.

We ask you to unfold in our lives

According to your plan, not our low self worth.

Help us to believe that it is not too late

And that we are not too small or too flawed

To be healed~

By you and through each other ~ and made whole.

Help us to love one another,

To nurture each other's unfolding,

To encourage each others growth,

And understand each others' fears.

Help us to know we are not alone,

That we are loved and lovable.

Help us to create as an act of worship to you.

 Benediction
(extract from the Hymn of St Patrick;

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
I bind unto myself today the strong name of the Trinity.

Blessed Lord,
Holy of Holies
Father of order, mother embracing,
Son leading,
Spirit empowering;
Give us this day
The bread of the earth for our bodies,
The bread of your body for our Earth.

Bless the work of our hands
Open us to the giftedness of our work.
May our work be a blessing to the community
In service to Christ Jesus.

We ask Your blessing Creator God
Upon our gardens
Through every season;
In spring planting
In summer tending
In fall harvest
In winter rest
We give thanks for the bounty of the garden,
For all food that nourishes our bodies;
For carrots and tomatoes,
Potatoes and lettuce,
Cucumbers, beans, broccoli, cauliflower
Beets and onions;
For strawberries and raspberries,
Apples and pears,
Grapes and plums.
We give thanks for the bounty of the garden,
For all flowers that nourish our souls;
For daffodils and tulips,
For morning glories and sunflowers,
For zinnias, petunias, geraniums,
Delphinium and daisies.
We pray that the fruit of the Holy Spirit
Would be nurtured in the garden of our souls,
Love
Joy
Peace
Patience
Kindness
Goodness
Gentleness
Faithfulness
Self-control
Awaken us to the giftedness
Of the seasons of the year
And each season of our lives.
We thank you Holy Spirit
For the planting of spiritual gifts
Within our brothers and sisters;
Bless and nurture;
The utterance of wisdom Apostles
The utterance of knowledge Prophets
Faith Teachers
Gifts of healing; Deeds of power
Working of miracles, Forms of assistance
Prophetic Forms of leadership
Discernment of spirits; Various kinds of tongues
Interpretations of tongues

As I prepare for this nights sleep,
I begin to rest my spirit more deeply in you O God.
As I lay down my head,
I die to myself and if it is within your will that I awaken in the morning,
I awaken to you, to your will, to live tomorrow in Christ Jesus.

Lord God, king of heaven and earth,
direct our minds and bodies throughout this day,
and make us holy.

All-powerful Father, you sent your Son Jesus Christ
to bring the new light of salvation to the world.
May he enlighten us with his radiance.

Father, may everything we do
begin with your inspiration,
and continue with your saving help.
Let our work always find its origin in you,
and through you reach completion.
Lord, guide us in your gentle mercy,
for left to ourselves we cannot do your will.
God, our Father, your light of truth
guides us to the way of Christ.
May all who follow him
reject what is contrary to the gospel.
God our Savior, bring us back to you
and fill our minds with your wisdom.
Father, you guide your people with kindness
and govern us with love.
Give the Spirit of wisdom
to those you have called to lead your Church.
May the growth of your people in holiness
be the eternal joy of our shepherds.
Father, keep before us the wisdom and love
you have revealed in your Son.
Help us to be like him in word and deed.
Father, without you we can do nothing.
By your Spirit, help us to know what is right
and to be eager in doing your will.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. AMEN.

Litany
North Umbrian Daily Office
My soul waits for the Lord
more than those
who watch for the morning,
more than those
who watch for the morning.

Call: Out of the depths I have cried to You.
Response: O Lord, hear my voice.
Call: With my whole heart I want to praise You.
Response: O Lord, hear my voice.
Call: If you, Lord, should mark iniquities:
Response: Who could stand? who could stand?

I will wait for the Lord.
My soul waits,
and in His word
do I hope.

Lord, You have always given
bread for the coming day;
and though I am poor,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always given
strength for the coming day;
and though I am weak,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always given
peace for the coming day;
and though of anxious heart,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always kept
me safe in trials;
and now, tried as I am,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always marked
the road for the coming day;
and though it may be hidden,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always lightened
this darkness of mine;
and though the night is here,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always spoken
when time was ripe;
and though you be silent now,
today I believe.

Meditation
Please use this time for a silent meditation. Possibly reflect on ways the Creator has provided for you in the past. Or simply be present to the moment you are in and let thoughts and words recede away.

Benediction

May the blessing of the rain be on you—
the soft sweet rain.
May it fall upon your spirit
so that all the little flowers may spring up,
and shed their sweetness on the air.
May the blessing of the great rains be on you,
may they beat upon your spirit
and wash it fair and clean,
and leave there many a shining pool
where the blue of heaven shines,
and sometimes a star.

Meditation

Daddy by Timmy
The Lord of Advent tells us to be watchful for his coming, keeping our lamps lighted, and our hearts clean. Therefore let us confess to the Lord.
Silence for reflection.

What is the Sculptor forming in you?
How can you yield to the time
and pressure that formation requires?
Do you allow the shaving, the
pruning, or do you balk?
What vision has the Lord given of the final,
polished, light-bearing result?

Prayer for others

Benediction
God and Father of all:
We prepare our hearts for the coming of your Son,
confessing our sins,
confessing our attraction
to a godless world
that does not know Christ.
Forgive our sins, cleanse our hearts,
and keep us faithful
for the promised coming of your Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
God sent his Son, the Babe of Bethlehem,
to show his infinite love and forgiveness for all.
Your sins are forgiven in the holy name of
Christ who came and will come again.
Amen.
